Every once in awhile, parents call us with a very last minute request and it just so happens to line up with an opening. Usually, it’s a realization that hits right after a newborn is born or a baby’s big milestone suddenly feels a lot more momentous than expected. In this case, I was called on a Saturday and showed up on a Sunday, just in time to catch baby Shiv turning 1-month old with his grandparents in town! So happy the timing worked out and we captured all of Shiv’s tiny sweetness with grandma and grandpa before they headed back home. Welcome to the world, Shiv! ♥ Your smile just melts.

I loved welcoming sweet Louis-Henri to the studio just days before his family moved to Jersey City from NYC. I remember the day we moved from the Upper Westside to Van Vorst Park and thinking three things. One, I can’t believe we have more than one bedroom. Two, I can hear birds outside my window instead of the 86th & Broadway subway announcements. And three, how soon can we get back to NYC?? 😂 Now, we’ve raised two boys here and I wouldn’t have it any other way. We still find ourselves awestruck by all that is going on here and all that we have yet to discover. And grateful we now get to explore NYC with our big kids with a hop across the Hudson.

Mostly, I’m so impressed mom & dad managed to schedule Louis-Henri’s photo shoot in the midst of their move. I hope these photos remind Louis-Henri of how loved he was in this transitional moment. ♥️

UPDATE: Louis-Henri turned one and of course we had to celebrate with another portrait session! So handsome!

Happy Spring | Danica at 6-months | Jersey City NJ Baby Photographer

The pretty florals on baby Danica are giving me all the Spring feels…and her little smile is the sweetest thing. If how adorable she is here isn’t proof enough, there are so many reasons why I love photographing babies at six months old. First, they are just about ready to sit up so they are showing their first signs of independence. Second, they aren’t quite mobile yet so not only do they get cozy in one spot, the little baby rolls on their arms and legs are still intact. Third, their personality is in full bloom! They not only give mom and dad the best giggles and smiles, they take one look at me and somehow know they are on the job. Happy 6-months Danica! I’m so glad you’re here. 💕

The minute you meet Tallulah, you immediately understand why so many people say she should be a baby model. She is such a happy baby with these giant blue eyes, sweet round cheeks and big curls. Glad we were able to capture some headshots for her at the same time as her baby portraits. Such a beauty! Can’t wait to see you again soon, Lulu! Even if it’s on the cover of a magazine. ♥️

This is quite possibly one of my favorites stages to photograph a baby – when they are sitting up, not quite walking, have all those sweet baby rolls and are full of personality. I call these Sitter Sessions, but sitting on their own or not, there really isn’t a bad time to photograph your baby in the first year. It all goes so fast!
